Numunu Staffing Awarded the US Government’s Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Status
Lawton, OK, May 20, 2022 – Numunu Staffing, LLC announces their certification in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development (BD) Program.
In FY2020, 8(a) firms were awarded $34.0 billion in federal contracts, including $9.3 billion in 8(a) set aside awards and $11.1 billion in 8(a) sole-source awards. The 9-year SBA 8(a) program also offers training, tools, resources, and contracting vehicles to grant 8(a) designated businesses access to federal contracts, often in a non-competitive, sole-source or set-a-side environment.
George Tahdooahnippah, CEO of Numunu Staffing said, “Our strategy for launching Numunu Staffing was to create a company that would qualify for 8(a) status, win U.S. Government contracts, put tribal members to work delivering those contracts and most importantly, win a share of the $34.0 billion in the U.S. Government’s contract awards for our people!”
Steven Riley Mowatt, Business Development Representative of Numunu Staffing, lead the application process for the firm, “Getting the application completed and submitted, with all the appropriate documents, was a learning process taking over a year to complete. I am glad the work put in paid off. Now we can refocus our resources into winning more U.S. Government contracts faster and generating profits for the enterprise and Comanche Nation stakeholders.”
Edward Tahhawah, Lead Talent Recruiter for Numunu Staffing said, “Today, IHS of Oklahoma is a current U.S. Government client. In the past, we have had to compete to win contracts. Becoming an 8(a) participant is a game changer. We can now be awarded sole-source contracts, meaning the work does not need to be published for bid – saving IHS time and money while ensuring more purchase orders are assigned to our firm directly.”
As a tribally owned business holding the SBA 8(a) designation, Numunu Staffing now has an advantage that can turn fierce competitors into potential partners and U.S. Government contracting opportunities into wins for the firm and the Comanche Nation.
